BEWARE of R.D. Hackman and Sons - SCAM AND FRADULENT Practises

We requested an estimate form R. D. Hackman and Sons on September/13/12. Mr. Dimming from Hackman explained that extensive work needed to be done on our roof and would require at least a whole work day and lots of materials. He provided a list of work to be undertaken and an approximate estimate based on his assessment. We signed the estimate for $605 with the understanding that we would get a detailed bill and final costs once the work is done.

When the 2 workmen showed up, they spend less than 90 minutes at our property and said all the required work was completed. We called Hackman for the details behind the work and were told since we had signed an estimate they can not provide us any details and we need to provide the amount. We paid bill in order to not be in default but with a request to finalize details and refund any amount owed to us.

The whole process was very fraudulent and we were exploited – the materials and time taken to conduct the repairs could not have added up to the $605 initial costs provided at the time of estimate. After contacting and speaking to Hackman’s representative Ms. Robin several times to resolve the issue we were continuously and rudely told that they will not provide further details on the work done. It is unfortunate that companies such as Hackman that we trusted as a local provider take advantage of their customers and cheats them under the disguise on miss-information.
