Wow. What a disappointment.. Wow. What a disappointment. Wish I'd taken the time to do my research... Generic diner menu; only "Amish" type recipes were the Pork entrees. Mashed potatoes were from a box. Pork was dry and tough. Dressing was mushy and just completely without any texture. There are other places - try one! Atmosphere & service might have been fine, but we were the only customer's in the main room; the back rooms appeared to have been reserved for after-church gatherings, and a steady trickle of customer's left while we ate. Food service was fast, but how long could it have taken to slop it on the plate in any case?

Pass this one by....so many other eateries that are good to bother with this one.. With all the great restaurants in the Lancaster area, I expected to find this diner to be another good one. The decor was not fancy by any means but I didn't expect it to since it was a diner afterall.The menu had some variety but nothing outstanding. While the waitress was efficient and friendly, the hot sandwich and mashed potatoes placed before me was unappealing due to the fact that the gravy on them was cold and lacked much taste. I didn't have time to send it back to be heated and tried eating at least some of it before I had to be on my way. Several weeks later, I decided to try it one more time for a breakfast with my daughter. I thought perhaps my previous " hot" sandwich was an exception to the rule and not the norm. Both my daughter and I were taken into a side room and left there. No one came for our order for several minutes. Other people were then seated in our room and the waitress went to them and took their orders and still we sat. Finally, a waitress noticed us and came over and took our order. Again, the plates of food were placed in front of us and it was cold! We looked at each other, got up and paid for our breakfasts and went across the street to McDonald's. Not the breakfast we had wanted but at least that one was hot and filling.

One other thing that I thought was odd about the Gap DIner.... it only accepts cash---no charge or debit cards! In this day and age, not having the convenience of using those in a busy restaurant is very rare in deed. Why, even the McDonald's across the street takes them.

I guess I learned my lesson. I won't stop there again no matter how convenient it would have been to do so.

food at the outlets. The Gap diner claims to have "Dutch American" food. Not really. The menu is what you would find in any run of the mill Greek diner. (Although they do have pork and sauerkraut.)

This is a place lost in time. For older folks who cherish the old time Linton's roast beef sandwich, white bread, dead beef and a plate full of floury brown gravy - you can't do better.

But I had a Chicken Caesar salad - a few slices of processed chicken on very salty romain littered with out of the box croutons. I could have dealt with the low quality and lack of imagination but at $7.95 it wasn't easy. My daughter had a grilled cheese sandwich with fries that looked like something from your grade school cafeteria. Again, there are folks who like this sort of thing and perhaps, if you're idea of a day out is an adventure at the Lancaster outlets, (which is what we were doing) then go for it. But don't look for serious food. You'd probably do better, at a lower price, across the street at Friendly's.
