Cozy little corner of Lancaster
by kshrpe
I started going to Quips a few weeks ago and it seems to be getting better each time I visit. The food is phenomenal and the service is great. The general atmosphere always seems warm and inviting. A bit over-crowded some nights but even still my glass is never empty. Whether I sit at the bar or my friends and I grab a table it's a cozy place for us to enjoy evening. I haven't been friends with any of the hired help at all so making a claim that it's the only way to get service in that place is in my opinion- childish-. The food is some of the best in town, you honestly can't beat their chicken wings(trust me I've looked), and the service is undoubtedly some of the best you'll find in Lancaster.
Quips pub is without a doubt one of the best and I strongly encourage all of you to take the time to see for yourself.
- Pros: Great Service, Delicious Food, Quality Experience
- Cons: A bit over crowded if you get there at the wrong time.
Best pub experience in Lancaster!

As one who appreciates good food and beverage, I feel the need to state that Quips Pub is, in my opinion, the best combination of food quality, beer selection, price, service, and atmosphere in Lancaster. I discovered Quips about three years ago and have since been there on no fewer than 50 occasions.
Service: I don?t usually sit at the bar, but the service at the tables is excellent. I was shocked to read reviews that made the staff out to be unhappy and unfriendly, as this is the opposite of what I?ve observed. In fact, the lack of turnover at Quips seems downright strange?there is a small group of long-term, friendly servers who seem very proud of the place they work.
Atmosphere: Having been to Europe several times and having visited many English and Irish Pubs, I believe I can say with some credibility that this is the most authentic pub experience in Lancaster. I have never found Quips to be dirty, and as for being located in a house-like structure? That is the very origin of the Pub(lic) House.
Food: The traditional English fare (fish & chips, shepherd?s pie, and bangers & mash) is amazing, and the soups are outstanding. The wings are the best I can find anywhere. The crab cakes are also top-notch, and the appetizers (especially the ?dipper?) are delectable. Simply put, you are getting much better food than you are paying for, as none of the items mentioned are more than $10, with the exception of the baseball-sized jumbo lump crab cakes.
Drink: Those who appreciate a strong IPA or a toasty stout will be very pleased. The rotating tap always has interesting selections from breweries such as Troeg?s, Rogue, and Victory. There is also the perfect pint of Guinness Draught, which, unlike many other European beers and contrary to what was stated in a previous review, is meant to be served cold.
I hope that those who have never been to Quips will treat themselves to this authentic, affordable, and delicious English pub experience!
- Pros: Food quality, service, beer selection, atmosphere, price.

After reading the outdated reviews of this establishment, I can't help but speak up. While some of the negative experiences related by previous posters from the past may or may not have occurred, I have been going to Quips for years and have not had these experiences. I am by no means a regular, but stop in on occasion when bored with frat bars like the Brickyard among others. Quips is one of those pubs where you can chill out and enjoy the company you came with or the company of new friends you make. My friends and I have never had an issue getting served, on the contrary, the service has been accommodating and unpretentious. The food is underated, as their burgers, wings and traditional British fare are very reasonably priced. Know anywhere else you get a multiple topping burger with fries for $6.95? I think not. In closing, I would highly recommend Quips for their excellent tasting reasonably priced food as well as the service that has gotten a bad rap in the past. Try it out for yourself and you'll see what I mean!
- Pros: parking, service, value, smoke-free!
yup, its for locals/friends only

same experience as some other reviewers. cold, unfriendly, and dirty. place tries to be an english pub, but it just stinks. i am a white, middle age male, middle class, and i am at home at most any bar/pub. i tip well, but didn't tip here, cause the place stinks. they have their regulars, their regular girl clients (Millersville Univ Co-eds, i think, 'cause the really heavy make-up on these girls, which the m-ville co-eds favor). it seems that the place tries to be a private joint for those a few guys to try to get lucky with the m-ville girls. they can have 'em . there are a lot better places to go.
