America's oldest continuously operated farmers' market..
Overview
The brick exterior yields to a vaulted, church-like wooden ceiling and a modern bustle of activity. Central Market is the place farmers have been bringing their wares since the 1730s: meats and cheeses, fresh produce (including local bleached celery), marzipan and Amish jarred preserves and pickles.
The Experience
Today, all the traditional goods are available, plus a few modern touches, like a juice stand with protein-boost smoothies. The market now sells heart-shaped crafts for tourists, arguably more enticing than those on street-side "Amish villages." And the diversification of the city of Lancaster has brought Middle Eastern, Greek and Caribbean foodstuffs to spice up the traditional offerings of chicken potpie and egg and olive salad.

This little piggy....
From fresh fruits and flowers to yummy baked goods; this market has a treat for everyone. It is a lovely way to spend a Friday or Saturday morning while picking up some items from your grocery (or goody) list. There is always a wonderful hometown atmosphere, where various cultures mesh together to form one community. Visiting this market is an all around enjoyable experience.
